This circular walking trail takes you through ancient woodland and across magnificent mountain scenery of Snowdonia as well as visiting Gelert’s grave at Beddgelert and to the spectacular Aberglaslyn gorge.

GRADE:
The path starts steeply, but don’t let this put you off; it gets easier and is well worth the effort.
A short section of the walk also takes in the main road.Ā
ROUTE:
Step 1
Go through the gate in the car park and turn left for Aberglaslyn
Step 2
On reaching the river, go left through the kissing gate, then over the road bridge. Turn left on the road.
Step 3
Round the bend you will see a National Trust sign for Coed Aberglaslyn and a footpath to the right. Follow the path to the stream, then turn right up the steps. Follow the waymarkers up through the woods.
Step 4
Cross the stile onto Bryn Du. There is a detour to see the small tower on top of the hill.
Step 5
Follow the path down, through the gate to the ruined building with the fallen tree. Over the stile, turn left along the top of the field and follow the path down to the railway line.
Step 6
Cross over the railway line and the road, through the gate opposite and follow the track to a small wooden gate on the left.
Step 7
Go through the gate and take the left fork to Gelert’s grave and sculpture.
Step 8
Continue on the path to Beddgelert, then turn right and cross the bridge, then right again to follow the river downstream. Once you reach the road turn left up into the woods and back to the car park.
